So on the 16th June it was Cupcake Day in support of Alzheimers. I decided to join in as I love baking!!
This isn’t a charity close to my heart but it is to a work colleague so I did it for her. She’s rubbish at baking haha.
At first I just didn’t have any clue on how many cakes to make. This is because I don’t have many friends or family who eat cake.
So I decided to make 3 batches of 12 cupcakes. I tried to get as many ideas in my head of which ones to bake. These cakes needed to suit a very wide range of audience.
I decided on making;
- Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting and haribo sweets.
- Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and maltesers.
- Vanilla cupcakes with a sour cherry centre with plain icing and a chocolate drizzle.
I got in to work and put my cakes down ready to go round and hopefully sell as many as possible. Due to being in a different building most people had already helped themselves. Most of them were gone by 10am!
By the end of the day all of my cakes had gone and I had some at home left for family members.
I was completely shocked when I counted how much I had raised. A whopping £60!! Yet I was so worried no one would buy any!
I am so happy at how much everyone had supported me. My boyfriend included as he isn’t a cake fan unless it’s chocolate gateaux. He helped me raise as much money as I could and was such great support!
