CHEESE FEST

@cheesefestuk held a festival for cheese lovers like myself in Liverpool this weekend.

This was such a great idea to get myself out the house to do something different.

I took my mum with me and we really enjoyed the time spent.

VIP PASS – £22

We could get ourselves some free halloumi fries or mozzarella sticks each. We got both!

We also got ourselves a free drink from the bar; prosecco and wine.

There were different stalls around selling cheese from different countries. Crazy cheese and unique cheese.

We tried many different cheeses as we wandered around. My favourite was the chilli and lime pictured below.

I’ve also never seen so many coloured cheeses.. Do any of these put you off?

There were stalls for nachos, burgers, grilled sandwiches, mac and cheese and pasta. My favourite is the melted cheese wheel where they pour it on your food.

There was even cheesecake! I had to try a piece of the mango one. Yummy!

The most Instagrammable cheese were these cheese bombs! Created as a gift originally for a friend who moved to Australia. All of the varieties she makes are amazing!

We had a great day out together, very rare that we have time to go out.

Thanks for reading guys!

Comment below your favourite cheese!

SURPRISE 50TH

I decided to plan my work colleague a surprise birthday meal for her 50th birthday.

I spent the past 5 weeks planning and organising the night. This included planning a cake and running round getting decorations.

Keeping it a secret was such a hard task, especially when she was moaning about wanting cake on her actual birthday!

I provided a decoy on her birthday with these cupcakes, she didn’t moan!

I booked a table of 11 at a restaurant close to us, The Boatyard. Its a fairly new restaurant, but exceeded expectations.

Lovely homemade food!

Everyone was so excited to see the cake I had made. When they brought it out her face was a picture!

We all had a lovely night! And I’m so glad it went to plan!!

Hope you enjoyed the read! Thanks for reading!

Date Night – Engagement Celebration

A month after our engagement, we decided to try somewhere new for date night. We chose somewhere slightly more special than our average curry date, even if curries are the best!

We chose to go Cheshire Grill, Lach Dennis.

I thought it was so lovely of the staff to write us an engagement card and put a balloon on our table.

We received two free glasses of champagne with our meal, Jay actually liked it! But it was gorgeous.

I found the decor stunning, done up as a woodland theme with stag heads and pale tartan wallpaper. LOVE.

We both chose burgers for our main, well done with chunky beef dripped chips and a side of onion rings.

Absolutely gorgeous food!

Skipped the dessert entirely, but had a lovely evening with my now fiancé.

BIRTHDAY GIRL

10th September, 2017

I’m another year older! Can the world please stop so I can get off?

Time is flying by far too quickly for me, I’ve been trying to spend every year making the most of it and i just can’t keep up!

On Thursday 7th, I celebrated with the work girls. We all had a lovely meal at Pesto’s. Lots of laughs and being surrounded by the people who have made such an impact on my life. I have such a strong friendship with them and I’m so grateful for them all.

On Friday 8th, the work girls suprised me with a little party in the afternoon. Good 90’s tunes and lots of cakes!

On Saturday, my boyfriend took me to Manchester for a night away. I couldn’t tell you how much I needed to get away!

We arrived at the train station and decided to get a bite to eat and of course, a pint of beer and a glass of wine!

The heavens had opened so we waited a little while before heading to the hotel.

We stayed at Malmaison, which is absolutely gorgeous!

They decorated the room for my birthday which i thought was lovely of them and I received 2 free drinks in the bar.

The city centre is literally 5 minutes walk, so we did a bit of shopping for our holiday next week.

I was wined and dined at Bella Italia by my boyfriend. With it being my birthday I also received a free bottle of prosecco!!

For the starters, I had Pizza Spirales. Which is just mozzarella stuffed inside bread with a dipping sauce. Jay had the meatballs, which were really yummy.

For our mains we had, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne and a Meatball Calzone. Both meals are very big and filling. We ordered fries with it but for me it was just too much food.

I didn’t take a picture of our desserts but we only had ice cream.

On my birthday morning, I woke up to all my presents layed out on the side.

I had the best birthday ever to date!

Thank you all for reading. I hope you enjoyed my post.

Have a great day!

Uptown Funk

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a lovely evening.

I went to Chester on Saturday so my other half could do his theory test. I thought I would do some holiday shopping whilst I was there.

The only part-successful shop I did was in Primark. I say part-successful because, I didnt actually buy anything holiday related. Not a single item.

I prefer the Primark in Liverpool and Warrington to Chester by miles as there is way more to choose from!

So, in Primark, I literally RAIDED the Harry Potter section.

I put quite a few bits back and just chose 2 sets of pyjamas and a top.

This is honestly, the BEST thing Primark have ever done.

I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!

There was so much to chose from. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, go and raid the stores!

I met back up with Jay with the good news that he passed his theory test and we headed for some food.

We came across this funky shop. Gino’s Gelato. You could not walk passed that without taking a double glance.

There’s nothing I love more than fresh, self made food. Especially, when the presentation is as good as this!

I had Gino’s Special Crepe – Strawberries, Bananas and Nutella.

How cool is it?!

We drove back home for me to get busy baking a GIANT jaffa cake. My Mother-in-law requested it for her birthday.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed reading what I was up to at the weekend.

If anyone would enjoy reading cake recipes please comment below and I will share my recipe for the Jaffa Cake above.

American Afternoon Tea

Recently I went to a local restaurant for afternoon tea with my friend. We were celebrating her 21st birthday so we thought we’d go for something a bit diffefent.

The Afternoon Tea included:

  • Dirty Fries
  • Mini Bbq Ribs
  • Fried Chicken
  • Cajun Corn on the Cob
  • Milkshake
  • Donuts
  • Waffles
  • Prosecco

This was £29.95 for the two of us. I was definitely stuffed, far too much meat for me to eat in one go.

I left the fries – thought it would be bacon and cheese, instead it was pulled pork and cheese. Pulled pork is a no go for me!

Im not one for eating off the bone, but the ribs were perfect! The meat just fell off the bone.

I had such a lovely saturday afternoon with my friend. She definitely had a great birthday!

Thanks for reading guys! Hope you’re all having a great bank holiday weekend so far!

Tea with a Friend

Hey Everyone!
Hope you’re having a lovely evening.

On Thursday i went out for tea with a very old friend of mine. I have known her since we were 3/4 years old.

We decided to have a major catch up as we haven’t seen each other for about 6 years now! Literally 6 years to date since we left school. Crazy!

I met her at my new local restaurant Wildwood for some tea and cocktails. We had both never been to this restaurant before so I wanted to see what it was like, especially with 30% off!

Of course the first thing I did was get a cocktail! Sex on the beach.

We decided to share a starter as I was being a piggy! Mozzarella garlic bread with caramelised onions. Lovely!

I was deciding what to eat ALL day! Literally. So I was adamant I was having Chicken with Gorgonzola Sauce and Gratinated potatoes.

I chose that, but, no potatoes. I really wanted something different as I hate having chips, I’m not a chip lover.

When it arrived I was disappointed. The Chicken was fried. I would never think anywhere would sell fried chicken in a restaurant unless specified, so I was totally gutted!

The chicken was crisp and full of oil. The Gorgonzola sauce wasn’t very flavoured, nor much of it. Too much rocket leaves and a tiny pot of chips.

I hate writing negative comments about food but this really was disappointing. I may go back and try something else sometime.

Anyway, I had a great catch up!

Thanks for reading guys!

I Believe in Unicorns.. 🦄

Hey Everyone!

I’ve been having a magical time making my favourite cake to date. Its the number one trend of 2016/17 and I’ve finally been able to make one.

It was my sisters birthday last week, so on Saturday I had to have a cake ready for when family came round.

I spent hours baking the cakes and letting them cool before stacking and filling them with Strawberry Buttercream and some Strawberry Jam.

I used vanilla Buttercream on the outside to cover the cake and the Unicorn hair is also vanilla just coloured. I always use a gel or a paste, as the colours are much much brighter and I always reach the perfect shades. I also used my Violet paste to make the inside purple. I attempted an ombre and came out perfectly.

It took me a couple of hours to create the horn and pipe the flowers for the Unicorn mane. I used a yellow icing for the horn, which I twisted to create the shape. I use yellow because my gold glitter spray comes out a lot nicer on top of yellow than white. I added edible glitter to the horn and stuck it into the cake using long cocktail sticks/kebab skewers.

I also bought some little icing flowers from tesco which had shades of pinks, purple and blue. I didn’t use the purple as it was more maroon/burgundy which was too dark for the flowers I piped.

I had so much fun doing this cake, as I’m not the best at Buttercream coated cakes and piping. I’m really proud of my result! And even more so that my ombre purple turned out spot on.

Below, I bought my sister a few simple, low priced birthday gifts, as the cake cost me a lot.

For a fun idea, I went on the website www.boomf.com and made a pop up gift. I chose photos of us from times we’ve spent together at concerts etc. You can add your own message to these too. The box jumps out and throws confetti everywhere. They do other gifts including marshmallows. This was £5.99, slightly expensive for a paper box what throws confetti everywhere but worth the reaction (which I never even saw!!)

I bought the Unicorn Bath Bomb from www.bombcosmetics.co.uk which is called ‘I believe in unicorns’. This was £2.50.

Oscars Coolers are available in most supermarkets but I actually bought this one in Aldi. I can’t remember how much for but as a gift it’s a cheap and awesome thing to give. Who doesn’t like alcohol?

I also bought her some Krispy Kreme doughnuts from Tesco for £5 and she practically ate them in one sitting.
Thanks for reading guys! Hope you enjoyed the read.

Have a magical day!

Easter!

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great, long easter weekend.

What did everyone get up to?

Easter is probably my favourite holiday with all the pretty flowers and baby animals around! The sun starts to perk up a bit and makes you feel more energised.

I’ve spent most of the holiday baking and eating. My mum and nan flew over to Germany to the rest of my family, while I stayed here with Jay.

I tried to decorate the house as much a possible but eventually it was only one or two things with being busy baking. I added some colour by buying some tulips.

You can’t not have any tulips at easter.

On Friday I spent most of the day baking and washing clothes. We had a chilled day and then went out for a curry! My favourite food. I always go for Chicken Tikka Masala because the flavours are amazing!

Saturday morning I spent the day baking again! It was a lovely morning so I decided go take a break and have some hot cross buns out in the garden.

I had run a cupcake giveaway on my Facebook page for easter and drew the winner on the Friday. The winner was my old best friend and she absolutely loved the cakes.

They were all different flavours;

Vanilla, White chocolate and Raspberry, Strawberry and vanilla, chocolate Fudge, Malteser and Carrot Cake.

I made a Carrot Cake loaf (no picture) to take to my aunties on the Sunday which was decorated with Cream Cheese Frosting and daisies.

I attempted to make a Malteser cake until I forgot to add malt flavouring to the icing! It was just a quick an easy cake to make so I gave most of it out to family and friends.

There was an awful lot of cake I made so I took a few in to work so I didn’t become a pig haha.

Easter is my fave time to make cakes because of all the bright colours.

I bought my nieces some easter chocolate from Aldi for easter and took them round to Jay’s mums for them. How cute are they?!

On the Sunday, me and Jay went to my aunties for dinner. I didn’t manage to take any pictures, sorry!

We had a homemade minestrone soup with garlic bread to start. For the main we had a turkey joint with veg and toasties. Then for the dessert we had white chocolate and passionfruit ice-cream.

A while later we watched part of the grand prix and had some Carrot Cake and then went home about half 4.

Again, on Monday I didn’t take any pictures apart from a selfie. Oops. But we went to the Legs of Man to celebrate my sister getting a new job. We ate in the restaurant, which is quiet, but a nice atmosphere.

The Legs of Man is a lovely restaurant, perfect for special occasions as it’s slightly higher in price and more ‘posh’. You order your mains and when they are served the waiters bring round the potatoes and veg. Then you choose what you want and how much.

We had a 3 course meal, so for starter I had a melon platter. There was mixed fruit around a melon fan.

Me and Jay had a Chicken Romany. Chicken stuffed with cheese and ham, covered in a mushroom and pepper sauce.

For dessert I had a tiramasu and Jay had a Chocolate Fudge cake. There is usually a trolly in the corner of the room that they have displayed with all the desserts on.

So my whole Easter weekend was spent eating like a pig haha!

After Easter was finished, I finally had a bit of chocolate.

Cheaper than egg and spoons by cadbury’s and Aldi has just as nice chocolate!

I also bought myself an egg from there that I still haven’t eaten. Its just too pretty!

Hope you all had a good easter weekend! And everyone indulged in yummy chocolate.

Thanks for reading.
