Date Night – Engagement Celebration

A month after our engagement, we decided to try somewhere new for date night. We chose somewhere slightly more special than our average curry date, even if curries are the best!

We chose to go Cheshire Grill, Lach Dennis.

I thought it was so lovely of the staff to write us an engagement card and put a balloon on our table.

We received two free glasses of champagne with our meal, Jay actually liked it! But it was gorgeous.

I found the decor stunning, done up as a woodland theme with stag heads and pale tartan wallpaper. LOVE.

We both chose burgers for our main, well done with chunky beef dripped chips and a side of onion rings.

Absolutely gorgeous food!

Skipped the dessert entirely, but had a lovely evening with my now fiancé.

Our Engagement Party

On saturday we celebrated our engagement with our family and friends.

I’ve spent every day planning and preparing for our party stressing myself out way too much!

I had my nails and makeup done before hand. It cuts out so much time to get ready when everything is done for you. I could spend about 2 hours just doing mascara!

We had a sweet table full with; jars of sweets, donuts and cupcakes. Unfortunately, I was so busy doing the rounds with people that I forgot to take pictures.

I made my engagement cake myself, through all the sweat and blood that went into it I managed to nearly get it how I wanted. (perfectionist)

We bought a personalised filter for snapchat and had a table for “pimp your drink”

We had such a good night and a bit too much prosecco! Here’s a few pictures from our night.

Engagement Party Planning

My engagement party planning has begun and I’ve never been so stressed in my life! I know it will be worth it in the end.

This is going to be my how-to guide on party planning.

Step 1 : Decide on a theme/colour scheme.

I have chosen an autumn theme for our party, using the colours of autumn and gold features.

Step 2 : Cake Design

As a cake baker it is my duty to carefully pick a cake that suits the theme and something which we can both agree on. We have, thank god!

Although I’m not too sure on the flavour! Hmmm

Step 3 : Venue

Luckily enough we managed to get our date quickly so we wouldn’t have to celebrate our engagement too far in the future.

I was really finicky about this due to not wanting to celebrate too near to christmas and also definitely not wanting it in the new year!

Step 4: Catering

Adding up how many people are estimated to come makes it much more simpler to find out the cost of catering. On average, a buffet is ÂŁ7 per head.

We decided on a hot and cold buffet due to the venue we have picked. I am also doing a sweet table full of goodies!

Step 5 : Invitations

Deciding on who to come and how many is a challenge within itself. It’s ideal to write a list and make sure you’d definitely want them there.

My invitations match my theme, although those one’s are more expensive. I limited the amount I bought to family and very close friends.

I bought some others from whsmith which are simple and still match my a part of my theme, being gold.

Step 6: Decorations & Bits

As I’ve chosen an autumn theme, my decorations will reflect just that. I have artificial leaves for the tables with lanterns and led tealights.

I have led lights for my “cake table” and a wooden crate to put my cake on top of.

I will also be adding other bits an pieces such as photos of myself and Jamie.

We’re adding a few bits for our guests to enjoy on the night and make our celebration slightly more unique and memorable

Step 7: Outfit

As a girl it’s highly important to plan the perfect outfit and I have chosen something simple yet elegant.

I have picked out a beige mid length dress so I look more formal but at the same time the dress is floaty.

I’m pairing this with nude court shoes and jewellery.

Step 8: RELAX

It’s time to chill before the night. I have booked myself in to get my nails done. This is just a little “me” time to make me feel girly again.

I’ve also treated myself to get my makeup done so I’m not stressing about loosing my eyelashes and getting in a big strop.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my party planning guide.

My Engagement Party photos will be shared soon after my party with all the deets (if the hangover doesn’t last too long!)

MEXICO – Our 5 Year Anniversary

Mexico has always been on my list of places to go for many years now, not cancun party central but Mexico in general. We’ve had our holiday booked since April so we had a long time to wait before we flew. Flying with Thomson is always the best experience as the cabin crew are always so lovely and attentive. The flight was roughly 11.5 hours to Puerto Vallarta. There are 2 meals on board the flight (average) and lots of films to watch too. We were welcomed at our hotel with a tequila shot and a cocktail to start our holiday the way Mexicans do! We headed out on our first night to have a look around and have our tea. It was very hot around 32 degrees. Our first day we headed out to the pool where the entertainment team were doing activities. We had dips in the pool and chilled by the pool bar most of the day. Jay and I were really shocked to see lizards all over the resort. Mostly large ones and also a baby one. Some were bright green. Jay spent an hour of the day playing water volleyball whilst I sunbathed. Later on in the evening we went out for tea and had a wander on the beach. This was the most perfect sunset we got during our stay. As it is hurricane season we would get some rain in the evening which would block the sunsets. It would be scorching hot the day after.

We received a fruit plate as a gift on one of the days which was lovely of the hotel. Unfortunately, the food didn’t agree with me while we were away so we stayed out of the heat for a day and close to a toilet. There was a bar in the lobby and one of the restaurants wasn’t too far. Due to where we were, in a bay, we had mountains and forests around us which caused a lot of the clouds. However, someone told us that they got burnt one day even from using factor 50 suncream! At breakfast time there was a wide range of options to have. Most days we would both have fried eggs, a toastie, potato chunks and bacon. Sometimes we would choose a sweeter option like fresh pancakes and donuts. The best thing was how the food was all freshly cooked as you were walking around. It’s always ideal to try the cuisine of wherever you are. For me, eating chilli nachos was great! I did try other things which I can’t pronounce, which were okay, just not to my liking. We took some strolls along the beach in the morning most days. Caught a crab scurrying along on the beach to hide under the jet ski. We spent half the day on the beach and half by the pool. Loved my outfit on this night! There was some really bad thunderstorms in the evening so we avoided watching any shows getting drenched. We chilled out in our room with some drinks and played some games of cards. Chocolate fondue!! We walked around our hotel, as I wanted to try and get a good picture of the hotel from higher up. Everywhere was soaking wet due to the thunderstorm so we had to be careful not to fall over. Every night there was a theme for the performances and the food. Themed drinks and the entertainment dressing up. Mexican night! And to top our holiday off we got engaged! We both couldn’t be any more happier and it most certainly made our relaxing holiday an unforgettable one! I hope you enjoyed our holiday highlights! I wonder what our next adventure will be? Thank you for reading guys. With Love, V x

WE’RE ENGAGED!

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to share with you the news that Jay and I are engaged!

I’m so overwhelmed with happiness and joy right now, so I’m in a little bubble of positivity.

So we’ve been in Mexico for the past 2 weeks sunning ourselves whilst it was our 5 year anniversary. Then on October 4th at sunset Jay got on one knee and proposed!

It was the most gorgeous setting on the beach with barely anyone around and he wrote in the sand saying “will you marry me?”

We won’t be getting married for about 5 or so years yet, so for now we are just going to plan an engagement party to celebrate with our families.

I’m obviously going to attend wedding fayres for the free prosecco though!

Thank you for reading guys.

Honoured..

I’M HONOURED!

My oldest friend is engaged!

I have been asked to be a bridesmaid for my oldest friend of about 16 years!

Right now, I am bouncing off the walls with a big cheesy grin on my face.

I’m so excited to help plan and guide my friend through the wedding process to her big day! I think I’m more excited than her haha.

I’ve always had a weak spot for planning and being involved in a wedding.

I cannot wait to attend wedding events and go out for brunches to discuss the wedding cake she wants me to make her!

I haven’t been to a wedding since my auntie’s back in 2002. 15 years ago! I think that’s why I’m so excited. I’m desperate to go to a wedding!

Below is the engagement gift i created for her, full of things she can use to plan and celebrate.

Wrapping paper- tesco

Engagement card – tesco

Magazines – asda

Frame – tesco

Reed difuser – asda home

Prosecco – asda

Dairy Box – asda

It appears I love Asda & Tesco! Haha. But you can buy any of these products from any supermarket at a reasonable price.

Thanks for reading guys, hope you enjoyed this little post.
