2018 New Year Wishes

Happy New Year!!

I’ve had the most perfect 2017 memories wise. It has definitely been my year!

I thought I’d share what my wishes and goals are for 2018. I’m not really sure I can top last year, but we will see!

  • I hope I can bake my first wedding cake ever.
  • Health and Happiness is strong in my family
  • Fingers crossed myself and Jay get one step further to getting our first home.
  • Try to drink more, I’ve always had a bad habit of not drinking enough (water)
  • Declutter my bedroom once a month.
  • I hope to travel to at least 1 different country

What are your goals for the year?

Our Engagement Party

On saturday we celebrated our engagement with our family and friends.

I’ve spent every day planning and preparing for our party stressing myself out way too much!

I had my nails and makeup done before hand. It cuts out so much time to get ready when everything is done for you. I could spend about 2 hours just doing mascara!

We had a sweet table full with; jars of sweets, donuts and cupcakes. Unfortunately, I was so busy doing the rounds with people that I forgot to take pictures.

I made my engagement cake myself, through all the sweat and blood that went into it I managed to nearly get it how I wanted. (perfectionist)

We bought a personalised filter for snapchat and had a table for “pimp your drink”

We had such a good night and a bit too much prosecco! Here’s a few pictures from our night.

WE’RE ENGAGED!

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to share with you the news that Jay and I are engaged!

I’m so overwhelmed with happiness and joy right now, so I’m in a little bubble of positivity.

So we’ve been in Mexico for the past 2 weeks sunning ourselves whilst it was our 5 year anniversary. Then on October 4th at sunset Jay got on one knee and proposed!

It was the most gorgeous setting on the beach with barely anyone around and he wrote in the sand saying “will you marry me?”

We won’t be getting married for about 5 or so years yet, so for now we are just going to plan an engagement party to celebrate with our families.

I’m obviously going to attend wedding fayres for the free prosecco though!

Thank you for reading guys.

Birthday Celebrations

Last weekend me and my family celebrated the birthday of my Grandma. She’s now 85!

I had been planning a cake for her for a couple months to get it perfect. The flavoura I chose were cherry and almond. This was such a great combination of flavour in a cake.

I bought a large white rose online as the topper. I’m not very confident in making them yet myself. So I made rose petals falling down the cake, then added pearls made out of icing.

We went out for a meal on the Sunday to The Leigh Arms. Very nice food and wonderful staff.

I bought a bottle of prosecco as I don’t drink very oftenand had about 4 glasses out of it, oops!

For the main course I had the Chicken Sunday lunch and Jay had a cheeseburger. His did come with chips, on the side.

After, we headed back to my grandma’s for coffee and cake. I was so full from my dinner but managed to eat a couple pieces. You have to have a piece of every cake at her house! Haha

She had a wonderful day, and as gifts she received some garden plants, a watch and a dinner tray. I don’t have pictures of the others! And the below is what my mum had sent me.

Thanks for reading guys! I’ll be putting another post up this weekend about another birthday and my bank holiday antics.

I hope you all have a fantastic day, fingers crossed the weather stays nice!

A weekend in Amsterdam..

I’ve being planning to go to Amsterdam for almost 4 years now. So when Jay was 21 I decided to book it for us!

I’m usually one for luxury week holidays abroad, but Amsterdam has always takes my fancy, especially in spring! I just love the tulips.

Day One

We were a little delayed with flying, but managed to check in and unpack before heading out. We arrived early afternoon so we had plenty of time to explore and have something to eat. Not forgetting the drinks.

Our stay didn’t include breakfast so we went to a shop to get some juice to have when we woke up.

We wandered around to get our bearings and then got an early night ready for the next day.

Day Two

Up and our early on our second day to visit the famous Anne Frank House. We were about 15 minutes walk away from practically everything! It’s nice to have attractions apart but also yet so close together.

We had our early lunch at a small cafĂ©. Jennifer’s cafĂ© if I remember correctly. We had toasties and chips to share.

I booked our tickets for Anne Frank’s online as there can be queues up to 4 hours long. I really didn’t want to miss this opportunity and it’s one of the main reasons you come to Amsterdam.

The weather on this day was slightly rainy. I was so glad to get inside and the wind picked up a lot while we waited and queued. Photography is also prohibited inside.

I’d definitely recommend going to those who haven’t as it’s a very moving experience. It’s amazing the facts you learn inside.

We ended the experience with a drink in the cafĂ© and talked about what we had seen. Yes, we didn’t talk to each other all the way round it! It ruins the atmosphere. I bought a souvenir from the shop to take back home with me, which was a postcard.
We walked up the main street, full of coffee shops for a few drinks and a smoke. I cannot resist a cocktail!

Later on we had some tea, pizza. Strolled back to our hotel and freshened up. We then went on a walk around at night.

Day Three

On Day Three we had a lie in and then headed to the Ice Bar. We stopped off at a cafĂ© around the corner from it.

Again, I bought the tickets online as it’s much easier. You get 3 drinks included in the package and 20 mins inside the ice bar.

We then went inside the ice bar. They give you gloves and a jacket to wear, incase people don’t bring them.

I chose the ‘nutella’ shots and Jay obviously had the beers.

The ice bar definitely was a good experience. We had so much fun! You have to or you freeze to death haha.

After the ice bar, we explored more and headed towards the Van Gosh museum. There’s a few museum around here all of which are very busy!

We got to the ‘ I Amsterdam’ sign. Packed don’t of course so we tried to take the best pictures we could.

Vondelpark is 15 mins walk from here so we headed there on our way back to our hotel.

We had tea at the hard rock cafĂ©. And headed back to our hotel for an early night.

Day Four

Home time. Check out was at 11am so we headed out for that time to grab a bite to eat for breakfast. Chocolate crossaints.

Our flight was at 5 so we got to the train station at 1pm to give us enough time.

If you plan to buy tickets to get to the airport, the outside machines only take coins! Slightly annoying!

Here is a few of my snaps from just wandering around dam!

I certainly loved Amsterdam!

Have you ever been? What was your favourite part?

Hope you all enjoyed reading my post! Let me know what you think below…

Sunny Sunday – Date Day

Hey Everyone! Hasn’t this weekend been gorgeous?!

I’ve had a nice chilled weekend again, ready to start planning things to for the upcoming weekends while summer is on it way!

Today we went to a fair in Knutsford, Cheshire for a double date day!

Jay and Ollie, both hate rides and so do I to be fair. So why are we at a fair then? Is the obvious question haha.

Me and Alex went on the waltzers. We were queuing up when we noticed this girl about to vom everywhere. She got up and walked away and I noticed she spewed up all down herself. Ew. So we avoided that carriage like a plague!

I haven’t actually been to a fair in about 6 years, and forgot how fast the waltzers went. At one point, no one had to spin us we just kept going for about 5 mins! Couldn’t even get my breath and I was so dizzy! Haha

We went on the dodgems with the boys which was hilarious! They tell you no head on collisions and that’s all we kept doing! The worst back pain ever.

We had a go on hook a duck. Obviously. I really wanted some goldfish! We had two goes, so we got two fish.

Ronnie and Reggie.

We took them back to Jay’s house and put them in their pond. Alex and Ollies fish are also in the pond too.

We had a few drinks (coke for me – dedicated driver) and a bite to eat at a pub after. Then went to watch Ollie play football for a bit.

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend! Fingers crossed it’s the same weather next week.

Thanks for reading guys! Let me know what you’ve been up to below…

Frantic February

Hi Everyone!

We’re finally out of January! Yes, I know I’m a bit late but these past 2 weeks have been hectic for me! I’ve kept pushing my blog back after being so exhausted from big Bakes and being very busy in my full time job.

Last week I had a challenge of making a two Tier Marvel Cake for somebody. I had an absolute nightmare!

The cake was chocolate tier and vanilla Sponge tier.

Baking it was fine, but as you may know I absolutely HATE royal icing!! I always manage to do it though.

At first, I covered the bottom cake with white icing. That was easy. Then I went to cover the top cake in the blue icing. The first time I covered it the icing ripped and had a huge hole in the back of it. Great. So.. then I did it again with a new pack of blue icing. Same thing happened again! I always use renshaw icing as the colours are prefect. But for the 3rd go I used tesco own new blue icing. It was manageable but still not perfect.

So then I began decorating over the top. I had to include superman, captain America, spiderman and batman. I found it really tricky using a stencil to cut out little tiny pieces from the superman logo. But I managed it. This cake again, was another one I had never done before.

Trying to measure and cut the right size logo for the cake was hard too! I needed everything to be as symmetrical as possible.

I wasn’t 100% happy with the cake but for my first attempt I think I’ve done pretty well.

I started making cakes for other people because I like seeing other people’s faces when I’m done. Some people you get who don’t really appreciate your time and effort to which knocks your confidence! But I have quite a few people who compliment me for my cakes and that’s what picks me back up again!

Today I have just finished off 40 Cupcakes (my biggest job yet) for a lovely customers mum. Its their salons 1st anniversary of opening this weekend. My pictures aren’t the best as I have finished them today.

The little hairdressing Toppers were quite difficult even though I used a mould. Some of them had really thin parts which just kept braking off so I used the ones which kept the best shape.

The Cupcakes were 2 flavours. Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge. 20 of each.

I hope you liked my post!

It’s time for me to chill out ready for overtime tomorrow! Boo
Thanks for reading everyone! Have a great weekend.
